  2. What is Crohn’s disease? Crohn’s disease is a chronic, incurable and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). When you have Crohn's disease, your body's immune system begins attacking healthy cells in your GI tract (gastrointestinal tract), causing inflammation (Christian N. 2013).   3. How does it occur to our body? Crohn’s disease can occur anywhere in the digestive tract. It can affect any part of the gut, from the mouth all the way down to the anus. (Crohn’s and Me)

  5. Who is most likely to be affected ? Crohn’s disease can affect any age, but people at the age of 15 to 35 are at a higher risk of this disease. Canada has one of the highest incidence of Crohn’s disease according to Canadian Digestive Health Foundation Public Series (2010).

  6. What are some symptoms? • Diarrhea • Loss weight • Blood in your stool • Abdominal pains (Jay W. Marks, July 2013) Other symptoms: • Fever • Mouth sores • Eye inflammation • Skin disorders (Mayo clinic, 2011)

  9. Genetics 10-20% of people who have crohn’s have at least 1 person in their family who has the disease.

  12. 10 Foods to avoid if you have Crohn’s disease. • Nuts. • Fruits with skin. • Popcorns. • Fried Foods • Cured Meat 6. Seeds 7. Tomatoes 8. Coffee or Chocolate 9. Alcohol 10. Dairy ( Milk)

  13. Home Treatment for Crohn’s disease • No smoking. Smoking makes Crohn's disease worse. • Eating a healthy diet. It’s better to eat 5-6 small meals than 2-3 large meals. • Not using antibiotics unless they have been prescribed for you by a doctor. • Getting regular exercise. • Relax and get risk of stress ( WebMD, 2013)
