WFD Committee Decision (1March 07) • The Committee unanimously decided to take out from the Committee work programme the item on adaptation of section 1.3.6 of WFD Annex V to scientific and technical progress and to ask ECOSTAT to present to the next SCG a work plan to develop a guidance document on this issue

  3. Guidance Contents (tentative) • Understanding of requirement in WFD Annex V 1.3.6 • Criteria for validation/qualification of methods • Nature of methods (sampling, analytical: determination procedure, data handling) • Application to type/ element • Specific: principle and procedure • Comparability and scientific quality • Application of current standard methods • Standardisation needs WFD Annex V 1.3.6 Standards for monitoring of quality elements Methods used for the monitoring of type parameters shall conform to the international standards listed belowor such other national or international standardswhich will ensure the provision of data of an equivalent scientific quality and comparability

  4. Issues to discuss • Drafting Group • Call for nomination of experts: by email to ECOSTAT after SCG • Time table • 25 April: comments on guidance contents from ECOSTAT • 30 April: guidance plan to SCG • End 2008: Final draft guidance
