THE FOUNDATION • India Vision Foundation is a voluntary non-profit, non-government organization registered as a Trust in India vide No. 4595 dated 1 August 1994. • All donations to India Vision Foundation are exempted under Section 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961 of Government of India. • The Foundation is authorized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to secure funds in foreign currency from outside India, under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).

  3. IT’S BIRTH… India Vision Foundation was conceived as a result of the Ramon Magsaysay Award (equivalent to Asian Nobel prize), received for forging 'positive relationships' between people and the police through creative leadership.

  8. TIHAR CRECHE PROJECT Then (1994)

  10. WHY CRECHE ? • Children were unattended, while their parents were at work in jail. • No facility of special food and milk for babies and infants. • To create a congenial environment for these children to encourage their (near to) normal upbringing and moral/civil development.

  11. OUR CONTRIBUTION • Crèche for children who are staying along with their mothers in prison. • The crèche provides developmental and nutritional support. • They are being educated, loved and allowed to play and live as normal children, away from congested cells and other adult inmates. • After 5+ years India Vision Foundation(IVF) supports these children under the Children of Vulnerable Families project (CVF).

  14. \ OUR CONTRIBUTION • Equipping these female inmates with entrepreneurial skills. • Financial independence: • During Custody- opportunity to earn a small wage, independent bank account created After Release - honed skills, self-confidence and financial independence. • Mode for their self-expression. Their work is displayed at various exhibitions.

  16. WHY CVF PROJECT ? • This project is a sequel to the crèche project • To continue their education and socio-emotional security.

  17. Role of CVF • Identifying children from the prison and even from the slum areas to ensure their schooling and upbringing. • Enhancing the physical, emotional and mental well-being of the child. (books, uniforms, clothes, schools fees etc.) • Organizing recreational tours. • In over a decade CVF has transformed more than 230 young lives.

  20. WHY LIFE SKILLS PROJECT? • Channelizing male-adolescent inmates’ energies. • Efficient time management • Identifying their potentialities • To increase their general/health and moral awareness • To enhance self-confidence and motivation

  21. OUR CONTRIBUTION • Providing social and vocational skills • Organizing workshops, sports, competitions etc. • Building their self-confidence and motivating them to live morally sound lives. • Recognizing and nurturing their talent and skills.

  22. BHONDSI PRISON, HARYANA (2012) Profile of Inmates India Vision Foundation hopes to bring to the Bhondsi prison some of the good practices currently observed in Tihar Prisons. The inmates at the Bhondsi prisons mostly belong to rural backgrounds and (barring a few) they all are illiterate.This prison setup promises us hope and immense scope of good work that can be introduced and sustained with the female inmates and their children.

  23. NEED FOR THE PROJECT As an NGO we have been working to protect the following rights of the prisoners, including: 1. Right to physical and moral dignity. 2. Right to an adequate Standard of Living. 3. Health rights of prisoners and their children. 4. Making the prison environment congenial for correctional intervention.

  24. Jute Craft Training We wish to bring to the Bhondsi prison some of the good practices currently observed in Tihar Prisons. The inmates at the Bhondsi prisons mostly belong to rural backgrounds and (barring a few) they all are illiterate. A 47 day Jute Craft training workshop at the female prison of Bhondsi Jail, powered and sponsored by Aegis Happy World initiative was concluded on 21st September, with 24 females inmates receiving certification for their participation. We are currently encouraging this skill by enabling the female inmates to build an inventory of jute products for sale to corporates and individuals, thus awarding them a monthly stipend.

OUR CONTRIBUTION Possible areas of Vocational and skill building: • Adult literacy modules • Vocational training Introduction of stitching/crochet/knitting training • Beautician courses • Organic gardening workshops • Pickle making • Chocolate making • Creche worker training and certification • HIV/AIDS awareness modules We would ensure • Focus on certified training • Capacity building of inmates which includes classes on Yoga, Legal awareness etc

  27. WHY SAFER INDIA? • The need to bridge the gap between the common man and the police. • Complaints not being registered. • Complaints not being timely-addressed.

  28. OUR CONTRIBUTION • Connecting citizens with police services and other government departments by acting as a bridge. • Rebuilding the faith of the common man in government agencies. • We support unheard and unregistered complaints by offering our guidance to build well-informed communities.

  29. SERVICES PROVIDED • Connecting cases with Legal Aid Cell • Referring to Concerned NGOs & Organizations • Home Visit by Interns/Volunteer (as per required). • Legal Guidelines • Counseling • Connectivity with Police & Concerned Department • Guidance on RTI

  30. INDIA POLICE (2008)

  31. NEED FOR THIS PROJECT • To increase the IT literacy among the children and family of police personnel.

OUR CONTRIBUTION • We provide IT literacy and scholarships without being biased across ranks. • 50+ functional computer training centers introduced in Police colonies. • 120 children awarded scholarships under India Police Programme. • More then 8400 children have successfully completed their IT training at these centers.

  33. RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (2001) A joint venture withNAVJYOTI INDIA FOUNDATION (our sister organization)

  34. REASONS FOR THIS VENTURE • To bring about complete transformation in rural life by uplifting their standard of living. • Women empowerment, Remedial education, vocational training, etc.

  35. Some of our Achievements • 527 women have benefited from the vocational training. • Construction of rooftop harvesting structure and installation of solar water pump in girls primary school.

PS: Cost towards the education of each child varies from school to school, for it is dependent on variables such as (Family conditions, IQ level, health & others) Savings, if any, from such support rests with the corpus to sustain and expand IVF programs. All accounts of the organisation are annually audited and reports submitted to the concerned official agencies. Any donor can seek information concerning his/support at any time, even un-announced. 38
