  5. Richard II (1367 –1400) • 11 years old • Uncle John ruled instead of him (duke of Lancaster) • Hadn’t got skills • Unpopular- taxes

  6. The Peasants’ Revolt (1381) • Lasted for 4 weeks • Peasants + poor townspeople • Peasants took control of much London • Wat Tyler and other leaders were killed • Richard’s promises • Discontent with the state and the church
