Proposal for the GEM detectors production training session • Half a day session with presentations and discussions: • Compass (CERN - GDD) • LHCb (Frascati) • TOTEM (Helsinki) • GEM for TPC readout (Bari) • Small flexible detectors for lab tests (CERN-GDD; CERN-TS-DEM) • Large area planar detectors (CERN-GDD) • Semi cylindrical detector (CERN – GDD) • Cylindrical tracker (Frascati) • Quality control of the components (GEM foils; readout electrodes etc.); mechanical components and tools; production steps (stretching; gluing procedures; quality control after each step); gas connection and distribution; HV distribution and protection; electronics connectivity; detector validation procedures. • 4 days of practical exercises in small groups (up to 5 persons) in the clean room • CERN – GDD has components to mount 2 10x10 cm2 detectors for RD51test beam facility tracker
