This overview discusses changes in 5th grade grading and report card systems under Common Core State Standards. Students will receive letter grades in the traditional format and a standards-based grade to indicate their progress toward meeting 5th grade expectations. It's important to note that not all classroom assignments are recorded in the grade book; some serve as practice opportunities. Only assignments that provide evidence for a standard will be documented. The report cards will encompass evaluations in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and math.
