  3. My Job • I firmly believe that it is my job not only to teach your child fifth grade curriculum, but to ready him/her for sixth grade.

Accelerated Reader • Individual goal is: • 4 test passed in the 1st trimester • 6 test passed in the 2nd trimester and 3rd trimester • Students have to get 80% to pass a test • Tests can only be taken one time! • Students will know their individual reading level to pick an appropriate book • AR Prizes will be given out at the end of every Trimester

Field Trips • Due to budget cuts we will need to get donations and/ or fundraise for field trips to occur. • We will be having a Jog a-thon to raise money for our 1st field trip to the Livermore Discovery Center! • Class Donations can be made by cash or check. • Write checks to: GKPTO In the memo put Tami Brown Rm. 20

  13. Homework • Every day except Friday • No more than 60 minutes each night • Students must read every night for 20 minutes • Agenda must be initialed by parent every night • Missing homework is not accepted • Late work is accepted one day late for half credit • Absent work needs to be turned in the day they return. • If work is not completed because of personal reasons or emergencies, please contact me.

  14. Agendas • George Kelly agendas are required by all students in grades 4-8. This is where the students record their nightly homework. • Agendas are also the students hall pass. • The student handbook is inside of the agendas. • Agendas are $10.00 cash only

  15. Projects This is a small sample of some of the projects we will be doing this year: Science Report (1st Trimester) Explorer Report (2nd Trimester) State Report (3rd Trimester) Book Reports (throughout the year)

  16. Organization • Students must keep their binder neat and in order • Each student needs to bring in a 1 ½ inch binder with 5 tab dividers labeled: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and History. • Once passed back, all work is to be filed in binder. Please leave all work inside the binder until the end of each trimester. • Each student needs a homework folder to take homework to and from school in. • Desk and area surrounding is always to be clean and organized

  17. Progress Reports • Progress Reports are available online on Aeries grading system. • Grades are updated often. • Please check on a weekly basis. • A full printout will be given for formal progress reports, and at the end of the trimester. • If you haven’t signed up for Aeries yet, please do so in the office ASAP!

  18. Attendance • It is imperative that all student attend school unless they are sick or have a family crisis. • Students must be on time (8:20) • Make-up work will be the student’s responsibility to complete. • Parents may call in the morning to request work. Work will be ready in the office by 3:30

The Mrs. Brown News • You will be notified of upcoming events by flyers and emails. • Please make sure I have your correct email address. • Mrs. Brown’s website is a great place to find out and keep up with all that is going on in the classroom. You can access it from the schools website homepage.

  20. Time for the bad news…. • Our budget has been cut tremendously! • Any donation will be appreciated! • Any money donated to our specific classroom will go DIRECTLY to us. • Checks can be made payable to: GKPTO and in the memo put Tami Brown Rm. 20 • It will cover: copies, science labs, art projects, construction paper, paint, supplies….. • If you can make copies for our class please let me know.
