The Radiation Protection Section has revised its fee structure as mandated by the Appropriations Act of 2009. These new fees will no longer rely on appropriated funds, ensuring that revenue generated offsets operational costs. Fee increases include X-Ray services, which will see a rise of about 9% from current rates, while radioactive materials and tanning facility fees will also be adjusted significantly. These changes aim to align the fees with legislative caps and reflect the actual costs of services provided, impacting facilities like dental and medical practices.

???????????? WHY ?????????General Assembly rewrote, as part of the Appropriations Act of 2009, to require the Radiation Protection Section to set the fees at amounts that provide revenue to offset its costs in performing its duties. Therefore the Radiation Protection Section will no longer receive appropriated funds to cover the costs of duties of the Section.
