  1. IEA Annex 39-“A common method for testing and rating of residential HP and AC seasonal performance” Roger Nordman

  2. Background MANUFACTURERS END USERS INSTALLERS

  3. Understanding of comparable systems SEER SCOP APF

  4. Importanceoffieldmeasurements and SPF • Policy (EU): RES • Consumer: • Reliablenumbers(Whatyoubuy is whatyou get) • Costperformance, energyperformance • Bettercomparisontootherheatingproducts • Industry: Consumerconfidence • Wewantcustomerstobuy a heat pump alsowhen the old HP is replaced…

  5. Whythis Annex • Need/request from manufacturers to have common testing methods • would simplify export of heat pumps to different countries. (Harmonisation) Not an easy task to define a common calculation method for SPF, but PRE-normative research needed.

  6. Work programme in annex 39 • Task 1 Survey and evaluation of existing testing methods and calculation methods for SPF • Task 2 Matrix definition of needs for testing and calculation methods • Task 3 New calculation method for SPF • Task 4 Further develop existing test procedures • Task 5 Validation of SPF method • Task 6 Development of an alternative method to evaluate heat pump performance • Task 7 Communication

  7. Aims for the Annex • Common calculation methods for SPF using a generalised and transparent approach, based on lab measured data. • Establish comprehensive test methods based on further development of existing test standards. The test standards should include test conditions needed for the future SPF calculations. • A method to evaluate additional heat pump performance, e.g. Carbon Footprint, Primary Energy Saving or Energy Savings.

  8. Heat Pump system included in the Annex Bivalent or hybrid systems, i.e. systems where the refrigerant cycle is combined with an additional heating option in the heat pump unit should be included in the analyses in this annex.
