  1. Is There Such a Thing as… A SafeSin? 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

  2. Is there such a thing…? • It is rare that we find anyone who will say something they are doing is sinful. • More common is the practice to “dress up” the sin so that is appears to only be “a minor one”. • If men had their way, most sins wouldn’t be called sins at all.

  3. What IS sin? • 1 John 3:4 “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” • Romans 4:15 “because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.” • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” • 1 Corinthians 15:56 “The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.”

  4. Can a sin be “redefined”? • Psalm 119:89 “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” • Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” • 1Peter 1:25 “But the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.” • John 12:44-50, The word that Jesus has spoken will judge in the last day.

  5. Can a sin be “redefined”? • Ecclesiastes 8:11”Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” • Ecclesiastes 1:9-10, There is nothing new. • 2 Timothy 3:10-14, Evil men and imposters will grow worse and worse. • Jeremiah 10:23-24, Man does NOT have the authority, right, or ability to redefine sin.

  6. Some things never change… • Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” • John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” • Mark 13:31 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” • Isaiah 59:1-4, It is our sin which separates us from God.

  7. There is NO SUCH THING as a “safe” sin!! • Colossians 3:5-10, We are to put away sinful attitudes and put to death evil practices. • Luke 19:10 “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” • 2 Timothy 4:1 “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom” • Luke 18:1-8, When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?

  8. There is NO SUCH THING as a “safe” sin!! • Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” • 1 Peter 4:5-7, Whether you believe in God or not, you will stand before Him in judgment. • Luke 13:3 “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” • Romans 6:1-4, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

  9. Let us NOT be one to make excuses ! • It is rare that we find anyone who will say something they are doing is sinful. • Let us be humble enough to admit when we are wrong and need the Lord’s help. • More common is the practice to “dress up” the sin so that is appears to only be “a minor one”. • Be wise enough to accept responsibility for your actions. • If men had their way, most sins wouldn’t be called sins at all. • “Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (Gal 6:7)
