In the Beginning… • STPB began funding for Hospital & Tourism Training in 2008 • Five goals • Create an awareness and interest in career pathways in hospitality and tourism (entry level and advancement) • Develop employee skills, knowledge and competencies • Increase number of employee industry recognized certifications • Help create local ambassadors for Tompkins County by providing greater exposure to tourism assets and resources • Further develop training resources and opportunities Approximately 1.5% of room tax dollars re-invested into workforce development and training options for employees
