Adapted GPS integrated to the unit:The Jungle: wild animals and habitats Reading: • ELA3R3: The student uses a variety of strategies to gain meaning from grade-level text • ELA4LSV1 The student participates in student-to-teacher, student-to-student, and group verbal interactions: (c) Responds to questions with appropriate information. • ELA5R1 The students demonstrates comprehension and shows evidence of a warranted and responsible explanation of a variety of literary and informational text. Writing • ELA3W1: The student demonstrates competency in the writing process Math • M5D2 Students will collect, organize, and display data using the most appropriate graph • M3N1. Students will further develop their understanding of whole numbers • M3M2. Students will measure length choosing appropriate units and tools. Social Studies • SS3G1 The student will locate major topographical features Science • S4CS3.1 Students will use tools and instruments for observing, measuring, and manipulating objects in scientific activities utilizing safe laboratory procedures. Among other possible Standards that may apply.

Summary of IEP Objectivesincluded in the Unit • Identifying numbers • Using objects and instruments to measure in inches and centimeters • Creating basic sentences • Sorting objects by shape, color and other attributes • Setting the table • Folding towels • Cutting out basic shapes • Using a switch • Identifying coins and bills • Exchanging money to purchase an object of interest • Identifying vocabulary words • Completing vocational tasks • Improving motor skills by: writing, jumping, imitating movements, cutting, drawing lines… • Reading a book • Greeting a person (adult in school and/or in a store) • Completing an easy snack that requires from 2 to 5 steps to prepare • Among others ;-) • Note: We are currently working on this unit and the kids love it. It has a lot of rich information and ways to integrate many areas. Also it is very fun in all aspects!
