  2. Year 2000 • Bi-monthly support meetings started. • Aforum for myeloma patients and caregivers to: • share experiences and knowledge of treatments and their responses, • listen to guest speakers and • obtain updates on new treatments and research.

  3. Year 2008 • July 28 Myeloma Alberta Support Society (MASS) date of incorporation. • The initial Board of Directors • Michael Chibuk (president), • Mark Kerr (treasurer), • Marcella Tancred (secretary) • Janet Kraemer, Alan Maclean, Asger Nielsen, Cliff Perritt, John Tancred, and Jeanette Wagner.

  4. Year 2009 • Website created multiplemyeloma.cato inform patients and caregivers of services provided by the Society.

  5. Year 2010 • Vision-Mission-Values developed for the Society, • logo designed, • information brochure published for patients’ reference and circulation at cancer clinics, • membership was formalized (approximately 100 in 2010).

  6. Celebrating 10 years, a Decade of Learning Education Conference The Vision of MASS is to improve the quality of life for those affected by multiple myeloma.

  7. MASS provides support, education promotes awareness, research and advocacy for patients and caregivers (including family and friends) in Edmonton, as well as central and northern Alberta.

  8. Year 2010 • First annual walk/run “Multiple Miles for Myeloma” an initiative to raise funds for local research and increase awareness of myeloma.

  9. Year 2011 • First bi-annual Health & Wellness Fair; full day program with speakers and information around general good health practices and living well with myeloma.

  10. Year 2012 • Beginning of advocacy work with clinicians and researchers at the CCI. • Special half-day sessions held at CCI auditorium with special visiting guests to enhance patient knowledge of myeloma, its treatment practices, and patient care needs. • First annual presentation to U of A Pharmacy students on myeloma.

  11. Year 2013 • Meetings increased from 6 to 10 per year • First Casino Fundraiser held to support Myeloma Research.

  13. Year 2014 May • Myeloma Canada Conference held in Edmonton (3 day event) • A member of the Myeloma Alberta Support Society Vicky St. Nicolas raised at a “Cash for Meloma event” money to support Dr.Venner’s Alberta data Base Innitiative.

  15. Year 2015 • Celgene sponsored Patient Engagement workshop for Board Members • Casino Fund Raiser held at Baccarat Casino supported by the volunteer effort of MASS members

  17. Year 2016 • Regular monthly support meetings held per year increased from 10 to 12. • First 2-day Education Conference held in Edmonton, 184 attended. • Myeloma awareness day at Legislature, meetings held with public officials.

Year 2017 • Casino held at the Grand Villa Casino • Malcom Stinson run series of Ironman races and raised money in pledges for Myeloma Research • John Kerr participated in the Canadian death Race in Grand Prairie, Alberta and raised money for Myeloma Research • Participated in the Myeloma Canada National Advocacy Myeloma Awareness Day at Parliament in Ottawa and in meetings with MP's and Health Canada Officials

  21. Year 2018 • $1,000,000 cumulative funds raised for local myeloma research • Second 2-day Education Conference held in Edmonton
