Free Verse Winter Poem Nikki Giovanni once a snowflake fell on my brow and i loved it so much and i kissed it and it was happy and called its cousins and brothers and a web of snow engulfed me then i reached to love them all and i squeezed them and they became a spring rain and i stood perfectly still and was a flower • No rhyme • Not predictable

  5. Triplet • All 3 lines rhyme Football is the game for me The stadium is a great place to be Touchdowns are what I like to see • Two of three lines rhyme Down by the lake Grandpa and I drop a line Then have lots of fish to take

Ballad Different forms that show a story It’s Not as Bad as it Seemed By Zainab Hassell O no, it’s already 9:50 and I’m still in bed Removing the covers, my own hand hit my head As I ran through the kitchen, I fell flat on the floor When I was in the bathroom, I closed my finger in the door So I put some cold water on it, thinking it’ll feel good But instead, it stung and stung and stung as much as it could And when I tried to put on my shirt I saw it had a huge smudge of dirt As I tried to get it off, my ring fell down the drain I saw that it was 10:00, man, have these few minutes been a pain “DDIIIINNNGG” There’s my alarm for 9:00, it’s not as bad as it seemed Phew, what a relief! Those 10 minutes had all been dreamed!
