Personal Profile (10%) …A “Before” Snapshot on your Outlook on ICT • Personal Emotions “Snap Shots” • Sharing your emotions and perspective on how you perceive technology playing a role in your classroom and the world of education • Personal Strength & Technology Role Clip • Record a brief audio clip capturing your perspective on: • Your greatest strength as an educator • Your view on the role that technology will play in today’s classroom

  11. INTEGRATION EXPERIENCE[45% of your Course Grade] • 3 Phases • ICT Inventory (10%) • October Placement • Teaching with Technology Activity (25%) • November Placement • One (1) Lesson with an ICT “component” • Integration Experience Profile (10%) • January • It’s all ON-LINE

  12. Phase 1: ICT Inventory • During your October Practicum (practice teaching placement), an inventory will be taken to profile the ICT materials available to support the students and teachers. A visual ‘tour’ of the school, combined with discussions with the associate teacher and other school personnel (e.g., site manager, principal, vice-principal, computer teacher) will provide the inventory information. • This information will be entered into an on-line database at: http://www.nipissingu.ca/iteach/inventory/form.asp

  13. Phase 2: Teaching with Technology as a Resource During your November Practicum students will be asked to complete a lesson (minimum of 1) that involves some degree (component) of ICT. Using the information from the ICT Inventory (e.g., what is available) and the anticipated teaching opportunity (e.g., dialogue with associate teacher), a ‘plan’ will be compiled to allow computer technology to be part of the teaching experience.

  14. Phase 3: Integration Experience Profile • Take time to think about WHAT HAPPENDED. Some guiding questions may include: • Were lesson expectations met? Explain. • What aspects of the lesson were positive? Negative? Why? • Were performances measurable? Explain • What were the bottlenecks (barriers) to excellence? (Coping Techniques?) • What could be tweaked or modified next time? Explain. • Look at the results of your Integration Activity Lesson from your November Practicum. Reflect on the above guiding questions to get you started on valuing your experience. Enter your responses on-line: • http://www.nipissingu.ca/iteach/inventory/Reflections.asp

  15. Case Studies(2 x 10% = 20%) • Included on the course resource CD are three Case Studies profiling topics which are meaningful and relevant to you as a new teacher: • Cyberbullying: Ministry of Education Regulations regarding student & teacher safety. • I only have 1 computer in my classroom and I want to integrate technology…what can I do? • Preparing for the Interview: The Principal is going to ask me how I feel about technology as a resource for my classroom…how do I prepare?

  16. In order to assess the comprehension of the case studies, a series of on-line quizzes will be completed. internet site hosting these quizzes will be www.quizlab.com • Included with your course CD is a unique password for your account access • Questions will also address software covered during the classes • 3 case study quizzes will be posted; complete any two (2) !!!

  17. Pre-Service Teacher Website (10%) • Websites are an effective communication tool for teachers to share information with classroom stakeholders (e.g., students & parents) • Skills will be developed to allow the pre-service teacher to construct and maintain a website or e-portfolio which may be used for: • supporting teaching activities during the B.Ed. Practicum Experiences (e.g., posting homework, on-line quiz materials, communicating with classroom stakeholders) • assisting with employment pursuits (e.g., teaching job application assistance, posting your resume and PT reports on-line)

  18. Personal Websites (continued) • Students not wishing to post their material on-line may submit their material in an alternate fashion (e.g., hand-in on CD/DVD,, host the site in covert fashion using a pseudo-name). • The website may be constructed using a variety of methods (e.g., TeacherWeb.com, Adobe Dreamweaver, FrontPage/Sharepoint, text editor, etc.). • website hosted on a server of the student's choice (e.g., Nipissing University BHS server space, personal internet service provider space, MySpace.com, etc.).
