  1. Addition of Bike Lanes to High and Church Streets Lucas Sprague Josh Ast Nathan Endicott Kevin Meeuwsen Travis Hills

  2. Location • High and Church Streets- 1 way couple • 6 blocks between Trade and Marion

  3. Objective • To compare traffic impacts of adding bike lane • System 1: Base system with current conditions • System 2: Removal of a lane to add bike lane

  4. Procedure • Analyze System 1 using Synchro • Remove lane to simulate bike lane (System 2) • Analyze System 2 using Synchro • Extract LOS data for intersections and compare

  5. Assumptions • Turning volume 10% of base volume at each intersection • Volume data uniform throughout street length • 10% AADT = Peak Hour Volume

  6. Results-System 1

  7. Results-System 2

  8. Conclusion • Bike lane not safest or most practical solution • Reducing lane reduces overall LOS • Which side would bike lane be on with all cross streets being one ways?

  9. Solution • Keep existing lane conditions • Both left and right lanes convert to shared lanes
