  2. The Rosary is a sacramental. • A sacramental is an action or object that helps us to pray.

  3. We begin with the crucifix • Hold the crucifix in your hands as you pray the Sign of the Cross and the Apostles’ Creed.

  4. The first set of beads • The single bead Pray the “Lord’s Prayer” • The set of 3 beads Pray a “Hail Mary” on each, followed by “Glory Be to the Father” • Another single bead Think about the first mystery and then pray the “Lord’s Prayer”

  5. The first decade • Pray a “Hail Mary” on each of the 10 beads. End the decade with “Glory Be to the Father.” • Think about the next mystery on the single bead, then pray the “Lord’s Prayer”

  6. We remember the Joyful Mysteries on Mondays and Saturdays • The Annunciation • The Visitation • The Birth of Jesus • The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple • The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

  7. We remember the Sorrowful Mysteries on Tuesdays and Fridays • The Agony in the Garden • The Scourging at the Pillar • The Crowning with Thorns • The Carrying of the Cross • The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus

  8. We remember the Glorious Mysteries on Wednesdays and Sundays • The Resurrection • The Ascension • The Descent of the Holy Spirit Upon the Apostles • The Assumption of Mary into Heaven • The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven

  9. We remember the Mysteries of Light on Thursdays • Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan • The Miracle at the Wedding at Cana • Jesus Announces the Kingdom of God • The Transfiguration • The Institution of the Eucharist

  10. After the fifth decade • We end by holding the medal and praying the Hail, Holy Queen. • Then hold the crucifix and pray the sign of the cross.
