  1. Hot gas welding, also known as hot air welding, is a plastic welding technique that uses heat. A specially designed heat gun, called a hot air welder, creates a jet of hot air that softens the parts to be joined and the plastic filler rod, all of which must be made of the same or very similar plastics. (Welding PVC to acrylic is the exception to this rule.) Hot Air/Gas Welding is a common manufacturing technique used to manufacture small items such as chemical tanks, water tanks, heat exchangers and plumbing fixtures. The filler stick cannot be used with canvas or tinfoil. Two sheets of plastic are heated by hot gases (or heating elements) and then rolled together. This is a fast and continuous welding process. welding wire Plastic welding rods, also known as thermoplastic welding rods, are rods of round or triangular cross- section used to connect two plastic parts. They are available in a variety of colors to match the color of the base material. The coiled plastic welding wire is known as the "spline". An important consideration in the design and manufacture of plastic welding rods is the porosity of the material. High porosity creates air pockets (known as voids) in the rods, which reduces weld quality. Therefore, the best quality plastic welding rods are those that do not have porosity, which is referred to as cavity-free. See More: https://proqm.com.au/coatings-inspection-melbourne/
