What do we want out of today? • Your feedback and suggestions for improvement on our proposed process and methodology • Confirmation that our proposed approach to progression pathway considerations for 4 year full-time VET will provide a platform for further development of the VET qualification framework • Awareness raising of the challenges we still face

  3. Why are we doing this? • Improve the employability and\or progression of VET graduates • Provide VET graduates more relevant skills and knowledge to meet the needs of employers • Transform the curricula from an input model to an output model • Capacity building for sustainabilty

  6. Curriculum Design - 1 Occupational standards Describe what a person needs to do, know and understand in a job to carry out the role in a consistent and competent way

  7. Curriculum design - 2 Unit A coherent and explicit set of learning outcomes and assessment criteria with a title, credit value and level Learning outcome A statement of what a learner can be expected to know, understand or do as a result of a process of learning

  8. Curriculum Design - 3 Learning outcomes The key achievements that learners will be able to take away with them and apply to other situations. When identifying learning outcomes the question to ask is: What will learners know, understand or be able to do as a result of this learning experience? Assessment criteria Descriptions of the requirements a learner is expected to meet to demonstrate that a learning outcome has been achieved

  10. What do we want to achieve? A Croatian VET qualifications framework and methodology that is: • Fit for purpose • Covers all types of VET qualifications • Sufficiently flexible to accommodate future changes • Is as simple as possible to implement • Is efficient and requires the minimum necessary to provide fit for purpose qualifications

  11. VET Development Process Q1 What quality assurance arrangements should we have in place to ensure the Curricula, Qualifications and Occupational Standards are fit for purpose? Q2 How will we know if a changed Curriculum is better than what we had before?

  12. Curriculum Design Methodology Q3 How much information do we really need to have in Occupational Standards to design Curricula and Qualifications Q4 Should we develop a database of units so that individual units could be used in several qualifications?

  13. 4 Year Full-time VET Methodology Q4 We have introduced the concept of reference groups for this project. Are they necessary and is the composition of the group appropriate? Q5 Are the check stages proposed correct or necessary? Q6 Is the composition of the Curriculum Development Group correct? Q7 What about the Validation Committee?

  14. Progression pathways 4 year Programmes Q8 Is our approach to split the 4 year programmes into two parts sensible and rational? What are the advantages and disadvantages
