  6. After the initial violence at the courthouse, white “deputies” began arresting African Americans at will

  7. White mobs marched north to the Greenwood District

  8. By morning, much of Greenwood had been burned to the ground, after having been looted

  9. Many came home to find their homes gone

  10. No one knows how many people died in the conflict.
