Strategic Formation Based upon our last meeting, our plan focused on the following areas: 1. PrintED certified Programs 2. PrintED certified Teachers 3. PrintED aligned curriculum 4. PrintED certification test or NCDPI Assessment complied from vendors will be used as EOC for courses. 5. Articulation with community colleges and universities.
Strategic Formation 1. PrintED certified Programs All North Carolina High School Printing Graphic Program will become PrintED certified as required by the State Board of Education within a three year period.
Strategic Formation 2. PrintED certified Teachers All North Carolina High School Printing Graphic Teachers will become PrintED certified as required by the State Board of Education within a three year period.
Strategic Formation 3. PrintED Aligned Curriculum All North Carolina High School Printing Graphic programs will use outside vendor curriculum that is aligned with the PrintED Standards. This will be written into the new CTE Standard Course of Study.
Strategic Formation Proposed NCDPI-PrintED curriculum Introduction to Graphic Communications Offset Press Operations Digital File Preparation Binding and Finishing Advertising and Design In this model there is one basic course and then the student/LEA has the choice which area of Printing Graphics to pursue. LEAs that have lots of press equipment that is industry acceptable may opt to offer the Offset Press Operations and Binding and Finishing course. Programs that do not have industry acceptable press equipment may choose to go the Digital File Preparation and Advertising and Design route.
Strategic Formation 4. PrintED certification test or NCDPI Assessment complied from vendors will be used as EOC for courses. Due to cost associated with PrintED, the certification test is optional. A NCDPI statewide assessment will be created by using vendor curriculum test items to create a validated secure Post-Assessment item bank. A Post-assessment test will be created by NCDPI for each course and follow the normal NCDPI process.
Strategic Formation 5. Articulation with community colleges and universities. Community College articulation process: 1. Students must pass each course with a grade of a “B” and must take and pass the PrintED certification for that course. 2. Students must be admitted into the program to get the articulated credit.
Strategic Formation 5. Articulation with community colleges and universities. University articulation process: 1. Students must pass each course with a grade of a “B” and must take and pass the PrintED certification for that course. 2. Students must be admitted into the program to get the articulated credit. 3. Students must submit request for “credit by exam” from instructor and pay fee. The PrintED certification will take the place of the Teacher generated exam.
Strategic Implementation Implementation will require the following: • The strategic plan will be completed and sent to the NC State Board of Education for review and approval. 2. The CTE Standard Course of Study will be modified to reflect the PrintED requirements. 3. NCDPI Licensure Department will be updated on new Printing Graphic Teacher requirements.
Strategic Implementation(continued) 4. School Systems will be notified and teachers will be provided information on how to comply with the new PrintED requirements to include information sessions. 5. Articulation with community colleges and universities will be written and implemented.
Evaluation and Control Evaluation and control will consist of the following metrics: • The number of PrintED certified programs and student enrollment. 2. The number of PrintED certified teachers. 3. The number of students obtaining PrintED certifications. 4. The number of students obtaining articulated credit and from where.
