  2. He was born. • Ponce de Leon was born in San Tervas de Campos Spain in 1474. • He had red hair, green eyes and brownish skin.

  3. His father is a nobleman • He is the 2nd son of a nobleman. • At youth he was nicknamed the poor knight.

  4. 1st Voyage • He went with Columbus on Columbus’ 2nd voyage to the America's. • It was rare that a common foot soldier would have the opportunity to go with Columbus to the new world.

  5. Ponce Gets Married • Ponce marries Leonor a Spanish women and becomes a citizen of Santo Domingo, Hispania.

  6. Porto Rico was discovered • In 1506 he discovered an island which he named Baroques which was later changed to Puerto Rico. • In 1508 he became the governor of Puerto Rico.

  7. Looking for the Bahamas • Ponce de Leon went in search of the Bahamas. • While searching he landed on the coast of Florida.

  8. He discovered Florida • He went in search of the fountain of youth. • He discovered Florida which he named Pasco De Florida

  9. First Man To Set Foot In Florida. Juan ponce de Leon was a Spanish explorer soldier. He was the first European to set foot in Florida.

  10. A tragic death • Ponce de Leon was wounded in battle with the Florida Indians. • He was brought back to Cuba where he perished
