  1. Fast Faraday Cup @ AWA • Fast Faraday Cup designed by former LT intern Teng Jian Khoo (2008) • Previous tests have already shown cup has a rise time of 50ps (fast!) • This summer: test resolution time of cup in multi-bunch trains • RF period of AWA is 770ps • Desired result is a resolution time of <770ps – this means the cup can see if bunches are synchronized to RF phase! Faraday cup – inside and outside views AWA beamline Adam Alongi – Lee Teng Internship 2010 – Advisor: Zikri Yusof

  2. Integrating current transformer (ICT): Slow rise time Poor resolution FWHM of single bunch signal is longer than bunch length Fast Faraday Cup: Very fast rise time High resolution (hopefully <770ps!) FWHM of single bunch signal is less than half of bunch length (a) (b) Theoretical sketches of signals from (a) integrating current transformer (b) fast Faraday cup Adam Alongi – Lee Teng Internship 2010 – Advisor: Zikri Yusof

  3. Photocathode Literature Survey • Many labs use photocathodes as electron sources • Each lab and experiment uses different materials, fabrication processes, equipment, etc., produces cathodes with different properties, and uses them for different applications! • Purpose of survey is to gather published information together for ease of access to procedures and results for future reference Adam Alongi – Lee Teng Internship 2010 – Advisor: Zikri Yusof
