  2. Let’s take a close look at a few examples of Indian notes that were issued by various authorities in different eras. To start with, we present this 16 Rupees note that was issued somewhere between 1823 and 1829 by Bank of Bengal under East India Company. • These currency notes in India were printed on handmade white paper without year date and the same design was used to print 4, 10 and 20 Sicca Rupees as well. The vignette features a seated tiger on an octagonal panel, the watermark shows Ashokan pillar, while the denomination is mentioned in Hindi, Persian, and Bangla.

  3. Here’s another example of old notes of India from a different category, as they were issued during the colonial times. These 20 Rupees Uniface notes were issued for Bombay circle featuring a portrait of Queen Victoria. • These currency notes of India were printed on handmade white paper and were issued on 10th June 1864. The text 'Government of India', denomination in Bangla, Persian; name of Sub-Circle as an overprint, signature of Sir james Wilson, the finance member of legislative Council, signature of Lord canning, the Governor General, are also featured on the note.

  4. These rare notes of India were issued by Hyderabad state with the signature of Fakhr-Yar Jung. They bore the denomination 10 Rupees and were printed on machine-made paper. • It featured the text Currency Note Sarkar-e-Ali in Urdu, Coat of Arms, watermark window, text "DUS RUPYE SICCA OSMANIA" in words. The denomination on these Indian notes was written in Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, and English.

  5. These currency notes of India fall under a different category as they were issued for Portuguese colonies somewhere between 1509 and 1515. It bore the denomination 300 Escudos and was printed on Mould Made Paper. It featured the signature of the then-Governor, Francisco Jose Vieira Machado. • The language panel on these notes of India featured 4 Languages, Urdu, Marathi, Gujarati and Konkani. The obverse side depicted a portrait of Afonso de Albuquerque. Other texts such as "BANCO NACIONAL ULTRAMARINO" and "INDIA PORTUGUESA" were also printed on the note.

  6. These Indian notes belong to the most recent category as they were issued by the Government of India after independence in the year 1949. They bore the denomination 1 rupee and featured the signature of K R K Menon. • 8 languages including Urdu, Hindi, Bangla, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati and Oriya were included in the language panel while the vignette depicted the Ashokan Pillar Capital.
