  3. The author • Michel Quint was born in 1949. He has published twenty works. He received the Prize for crime fiction in 1989. In ourStrangeGardenswasturnedinto a film in 2003 by Jean Becker.

  4. The novel

  5. Summary The story is about a little boy whoisashamed of his father because heisboth a teacher and a clown. His uncle will soon explain to him why his father has become a clown afterbeing a resistancefighter in WWII. At the end he understands whyhisfatherdoes that and he changes his shameinto pride.

  6. Characters The two main characters are first the father André, a teacherwhoacts the clown in his free time and his son whohates clowns. Gaston, the youngboy’suncle and hiswifeNicole are keycharacters to understandthe plot. Later, whenhediscovers the truth, the son becomesproud of hisfather.

  7. Our opinion • It is a very interesting book, very easy to read and it has got 60 pages only. There is suspense until the end. Moreover, it is based on a true storywhichisverymoving.
