  2. The tense of the verb tells the time of the action. The simple tenses are the present, the past, and the future. The present tenseshows actions that are happening now.

  5. Rules tokeep in mind Rule No. 1: To form the present tense for regular verbs used with a singular subject and the pronouns he, she, and itdo the following:

  6. Rules tokeep in mind Rule No. 2:To form the present tense for regular verbs used with a plural subject and the pronouns I, you, we, and theydo not add an –s. Examples: The boys eat at the school’s dining room. You study every day after school.

  7. To form the present tense for be and have Rule No. 1 Use is(form of the verb to be) and has with a singular noun and with the pronouns it, she, and he. Examples: The dog is men’s best friend. It/she/hehas a loyal and sweet personality.

  8. To form the present tense for be and have Rule No. 2 Use am(form of the verb to be) and have with the pronoun I. Examples: Iam the oldest student in my class. Ihave ten candies inside my Halloween bag.

  9. To form the present tense for be and have Rule No. 3 Use are and have with a plural noun and with the pronouns you,we, andthey. Examples: The boys are smart but noisy. You/we/theyare smart but noisy. The children have a welcome back party at the student center. You/we/theyhave a welcome back party at the student center.
