  6. IV. Essay • A short piece with a particular person’s point of view • Based on opinion more than fact

  7. V. SPEECH • An oral presentation made for a specific purpose • Usually intended to persuade the audience

  8. ANECDOTE (not antidote) • Brief account of a true event to add depth and color to any piece of writing • A story within a story used to make a point

  9. Journal Assignment 4.2 • Read “All Things Bright & Beautiful” p. 319, pink book • List the anecdotes & character trait revealed by that anecdote
