  2. Amphibians • Some common characteristics of amphibians are: • Adults live mostly on land breathing through lungs • Soft, moist skin • Cold-blooded (body temperature changes with the environment) • Four legs (sometimes have webbed feet)

  3. Eat small insects or fish • Most lay soft-shelled eggs in water. The young mature in the water, breathing through gills

  4. Reptiles • Some common characteristics of reptiles are: • Live on land or water • Dry skin covered with hard overlapping scales • Cold-blooded • Have four legs with claws (for digging)

  5. Breathe through lungs • Eat a variety of insects, small animals and some fruit & vegetables • Most lay eggs on land

  6. Birds • Some common characteristics of birds are: • Have feathers and wings • A beak or bill as a mouth. No teeth • Have lightweight or hallow bones • Warm-blooded

  7. Eat a variety of food including insects, plants, small mammals or even other birds • Lay hard-shelled eggs and incubate their young
