  2. University-wide Involvement • The center’s administrative office is located on the Lincoln campus, but the AEC is under the direction of the President of the University of Nebraska. The AEC serves all campuses of the University of Nebraska. • Kearney • Lincoln • Medical Center • Omaha

Staff • Song Xiaoping, Director of AEC, and Vice-President for Research at XJTU • Chen Xiangjing, AEC Vice Director, and Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Studies at XJTU (Assistant Qian Xi) • He Changzhong, Chinese Deputy Director of the AEC and Vice Director of the Department of International Cooperation & Exchange

  6. Gratitude • Professor David Lou, founding director of the AEC, who had the wisdom to name the center the American Exchange Center (AEC). The word exchange has become central to our mission and our image.

  7. Hosted visits to Nebraska from XJTU president and his delegation in January 2013

  8. May 2013 Research Forum: 2 ½ days meetings of 14 scientists from Nebraska and 21 scientists from Xi’an to explore areas of mutual interest and possible cooperative research

  9. Worked with architecture students to redesign our teaching space

  10. Lecture and studio workshop for architecture students led by University of Nebraska alumnus Scott Killinger

  11. 3-day workshop for architecture students led by University of Nebraska faculty member, Mark Hoistad

  12. AEC Open Houses introduce AEC resources to XJTU faculty

  13. Nebraska students present examples of their photojournalism to interested XJTU students

  14. NU’s Skyros Quartet joins XJTU’s traditional music group onstage for a joint performance in May 2013”

  15. Sponsored the USA booth at the XJTU International Fair

  16. English-language speech contest with guest judges Rachelle Kamrath & Grant Anderson from the University of Nebraska, Kearney

  17. English language interns from Nebraska assist XJTU teachers of English and offer tutoring sessions in the AEC library

  18. AEC sponsors the graduate English Corner and also the English Corner for undergraduates

  19. English Movie Night

  20. In the plans for 2013-14 • Host 10 XJTU faculty for a semester in Nebraska • Expand English interns program • Expand outreach • Nurture connections • Increase XJTU involvement
