  1. Basic things you should know about dental bridges

  2. Dental bridges are one of the many restorative options available in the market to fill the gap caused by tooth loss. They restore the appearance and function of your missing tooth. They also prevent your remaining teeth from shifting out of their positions, which could lead to other serious dental problems such as bite misalignment.

  3. A dental bridge is the preferred choice of restoration when the missing tooth is located in between two healthy teeth. The bridge is consist of two crowns on both sides of the restorations – these are called abutments – and a false teeth in the middle of the restoration – this is called pontic.

  4. This restoration is supported either by healthy adjacent teeth or dental implants. There are different types of dental bridges to choose from. You should discuss with your dentist which type is applicable with your dental condition and your budget.

  5. The cost of this restoration usually depends on the type and material used in the bridge and also the country where the procedure is to be performed.Aside from the cost of this restoration, another most common question is how long does a dental bridge last? To answer, bridges can normally last five to 15 years.

  6. When good hygiene and regular dental check-up are consistently practiced, dental bridges could even last longer. The only downside of using a dental bridge is the significant alteration of the healthy adjacent teeth just to replace one missing tooth.

  7. Alteration is done to fit the crowns in place to serve as anchorage for this dental restoration.http://www.theelgindentist.com/
