  1. RABBIT Rabbits are mammals from the leporidae family, which can be found in many parts of the earth. Formerly this animal is a wild animal that lives in mainland Africa to the mainland of Europe. In its development, in 1912, rabbits were classified in ordolagomorpha, the Order was distinguished into two families, namely ochtonidae (pica type) and leporidae (including rabbits and hares).

  2. The origin of the word rabbit comes from the Netherland language, konijntje meaning “rabbit boy”. This shows that the people of Nusantara began to recognize rabbits during the cononial period, whereas in Sumatra Island there was a new species of Sumatran rabbit (Nesolagusnetscheri) that was only discovered in 1972.

  3. The length of the rabbit’s ear can be more than 10 cm, which serves as an adaptation to detect predators. The rabbit has a strong hind leg and the front leg has 5 fingers and the back leg has 4 toes. The size of a rabbit can range from 20 cm (8 years) in length and 0.4 kg in weight up to 50 cm ( 20 inches) and over 2 kg. Rabbit have two sets of incisors, in this way they can be differentiated from rats.

  4. The rabbit has a short tail. A female rabbit will contain her child for 30 day. Every childbirth, the rabbit can give birth between 4 to 12 rabbits. A female rabbit can mate since the age of 6 months, while a male rabbit when he was 7 months old. Rabbits have fur colors like brown, white, black, gray, black and white, and so on.
