Literary Graffiti Project: Exploring Themes in "Night"

This project involves creating a unique piece of literary graffiti based on a quote from Elie Wiesel's "Night." Students will select a quote that includes the word "night" and illustrate it visually on their page. Begin by visiting the provided webpage to find relevant materials. Write your name and period on the top left, then record your selected quote and its page number in the top right. Draw a representation of your quote on the left side, using Bitmap to create a personalized image. In the center box, explain your drawing, and in the bottom right, discuss its significance related to the quote. Finished projects can be colored and printed or hand-drawn if a printer is unavailable.

  3. Quotation from text including the word “night” with page #- “The night seemed endless. By daybreak, Mrs. Schachter had settled down. Crouching in her corner, her blank gaze fixed on some faraway place, she no longer saw us.” (p. 26) Literary Graffiti by _Mrs. Rotker_________________ Blk.______ Explanation of Graffiti- What is it? The graffiti represents Mrs. Schachter’s eyes in the dark cattle car. Significance of Graffiti to Text-Why? The eyes represent Mrs. Schachter’s unseeing, blank gaze. Although, it appeared that she could not see, she had a better picture than anyone of what was coming up. As she stared into the night, she no longer saw Elie or anyone else. She was just left inside her own terror-filled mind .This was a dark, scary place to be.
