  1. Tissues & Organs Identify and describe the function and inter-dependence of organs and tissues.

  2. Vocabulary • Heart • Brain • Kidney • Ovaries/testes • Lungs • Small intestine • Nervous system • Digestive system • Circulatory system • Reproductive system • Urinary system • Immune system • Integumentary system • Endocrine system • Skeletal system • Lymphatic system • Muscular system • Pituitary gland • Lymph nodes • Blood cells • Liver • Pancreas • Excretory system • Respiratory system

  3. Organization • Remember from the Cell Unit, CELLS make TISSUES which make ORGANS which make SYSTEMS. • This applies to ALL multi-cellular animals. • The level of complexity differs, sponges vs. insects. • Name some types of cells that are specialized or places within organ systems where you think you might find specialized cells.

  4. Organization, Names of Human Systems • Nervous • Respiratory • Circulatory • Urinary • Digestive  • Immune • Integumentary • Lymphatic • Reproductive • Endocrine • Excretory • Skeletal • Muscular

  5. Organization • http://www.msnucleus.org/membership/html/k-6/lc/humanbio/5/lchb5_1a.html • Create a table on the systems.

  6. Systems • How are the needs of the cells met by the systems? • Does the structure or shape of an organ relate to its function or job?

  7. Body Systems Movie Clip • # 172, Human Body in Action • Functional Organs for the Systems: Create a table listing each system and the functional organ for that system. List what that functional organ does (what it does is performed on the tissue and cellular level).

  8. Review • Worksheet • http://web.jjay.cuny.edu/~acarpi/NSC/14-anatomy.htm • Digestive system http://www.res.sd8.bc.ca/Digestive%20System.html • www.Brainpop.com
