  4. Midterms • You were given the opportunity and the time…two weeks as homework…to complete the French Revolution Unit Study Guide to use on both parts of the Midterm. • This would have helped you narrow down correct answers for the Multiple Choice, plus have the extra credit bonus points added to your Multiple Choice score. • And it would have helped your Short Answer very much, because on the French Revolution Unit Study Guide the Short Answer question/topic appeared three times…with the Stages of a Revolution and in two forms for the Causes of the French Revolution. • You need to study for unit tests and midterms. You cannot afford to wing them and blow them off! • You need to complete the study guides in an organized format by using an outline, bullets, and/or a graphic organizer. • You need to write down historical specifics to help review for the tests and to use on the tests. • There is a correlation between the students who completed the study guide fully and studied ahead of time for the Midterm and how they did on the Midterm.

  11. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 • Quiet Question: Type Two Prompt---An interview was conducted on the island of St. Helena shortly before the death of the former Emperor of France, Napoleon, on May 5, 1821. Unfortunately, only the questions were found. • As a Napoleon expert, you have been commissioned to answer ONEof the six questions as you believe Napoleon would have answered the question. Remember Napoleon was known to be a very, arrogant, formal person who once said, “Power is my mistress”, so use his tone and personality in your reply. • When you answer the chosen question, be sure to identify which question you are doing. • You may write using bullets as this is a Type Two. • YOU MUST PROVIDE HISTORICAL DETAILS AS EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR ANSWER. DO NOT WRITE VAGUE OR GENERAL STATEMENTS. BE SURE TO EXPLAIN! • Use your textbook, your Napoleon Notes from the last two lessons, and your Napoleon Supplemental Readings. • YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF FIVE SEPARATE POINTS/ARGUMENTS FOR YOUR ANSWER.

  12. Interview Questions: • Emperor Napoleon, please describe for us how you rose to power from a Corsican boy from an undistinguished family to the most powerful man in Europe. • Your highness, explain what you believe are the most important reforms that you brought to France and later to the countries you conquered. • Sire, you are remembered as a military genius. Explain your most successful battle and how you won. • Emperor, I hate to bring up your ill-fated invasion of Russia. Please explain how a military genius like yourself could have lost so decisively. • Now that you are exiled here at St. Helena, please explain what happened during the Hundred Days after you escaped Elba. • Emperor Napoleon, you said after the Battle of Waterloo, that you would only be remembered for that defeat. Why? What would you like to be remembered for? Please explain.
