Parts of a Guppy • Differences in Male and Female Guppies • Anal fin shape in males is rod shaped, in females it is fan shaped. • Females has smaller dorsal fins. • Females have a gravid spot that holds eggs. • Caudal fin or tail is smaller and less fancy in females than in males. • Males have a larger dorsal fin than females.   9. Fun Facts • Guppies are freshwater fish. • Unlike goldfish, guppies do not lay eggs. They give birth to live fish. • They are tropical fish that love warm water. • They can be orange, black, yellow, white, red, brown, or a combination of those colors. • There are 3 basic kinds of guppies--Fancy, Swordtail and Common or Feeder.   10. The Life Cycle Of A Guppy • A female guppy holds the fertilized eggs in her gravid spot. • Once the eggs are mature, the guppy gives birth to live fish.
