  2. Census ~ Study the whole population • Cross sectional study~ individuals from different groups at the same time • Longitudinal Study ~ Considers individuals over a long period of time • (examples to follow)

  3. Time series data~ data accumulated over a long period of time (e.g. the population of a city) • Quantitative variable ~ measured (e.g. height) • Qualitative Variable ~ descriptive (e.g. eye colour) • Discrete Data ~ Whole numbers (e.g. the number of children in a household) • Continuous Data ~ Real numbers (e.g. height)
