The Renaissance period witnessed unique hygiene practices reflecting societal attitudes toward personal care. Most individuals paid little attention to their bodies, often overindulging in food and drink without exercising. While the wealthy bathed bi-weekly in large wooden tubs, the lower classes managed only three baths a year. Innovations like washing hands before meals and using lye for hair care emerged, yet modern conveniences such as flush toilets and toilet paper were nonexistent. Instead, they relied on outhouses and natural materials for hygiene.
