Online Resources • www.kutasoftware.com • This website has several worksheets with answer keys that can help students practice at home. • www.math.com – Free Algebra Worksheet Generator • This website allows you to create Algebra worksheets. The equations are the most beneficial for 8th grade math. • www.kahnacademy.com • This website has a vast amount of videos that explain 8th grade math concepts. • www.math-videos-online.com • This website provides video explanations on solving math problems.

  4. Textbooks • Students have received Volume 2 textbooks so far this year. • Each student has received THEIR OWN textbook that they may write in and take home. Please encourage your child to write in pencil only. • Textbooks are expected to be in class everyday. • Students will not tear pages from their books, even if they are assigned.

  5. Grading Policy • Classwork = 25% • Quizzes = 20% • CDA = 15% • Major Tests = 15% • Homework = 10% • Projects = 10% • Participation = 5%

  7. Georgia Milestones/EOG/GMASS Weights • Content Weights for Math • Algebra & Functions– 40% • Geometry – 28% • Numbers, Expressions & Equations – 20% • Statistics & Probability – 12% • Test will be after Spring Break, however we have not been told the exact dates.

  8. Curriculum • Unit 1 – Functions – Vol. 2 • Unit 2 – Linear Functions – Vol. 2 • Unit 3 – Linear Models & Tables – Vol. 2 • Unit 4 – Solving System of Equations – Vol. 2 • Unit 5 – Similarity & Congruence – Vol. 1 • Unit 6 – Exponents – Vol. 1 • Unit 7 – Geometric Apps of Exponents – Vol. 2

  9. 8th Grade Field Trip • We are excited to be planning a field trip this fall for our 8th grade students. The date has not been secured at this time. • A letter will be going home very soon with details on the field trip including date, location, and cost. • Look for this letter in the coming weeks.

  10. 8th Grade Dance Information • 8th Grade Dance is Friday, May 15 from 7:00 – 9:30 at The Centre @ Arbor Connection. • Cost is $40 per student. Tickets are sold in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. • More info on purchasing tickets will be given in early October. • Only students enrolled in 8th grade at Factory Shoals Middle at the time of the dance are allowed to attend. • No student may attend if they have ISS or OSS the week of the dance. • NO REFUNDS FOR TICKETS WILL BE GIVEN.

  11. Dance Dress Code • Appropriate Attire for Gentlemen • Suit • Nice slacks and dress shirt • NO JEANS! NO SHORTS! NO T-SHIRTS! • Appropriate Attire for Ladies • The LENGTH of Dresses/Skirts MUST adhere to Factory Shoals dress code. • No strapless dresses. If your dress is strapless, you MUST attach clear/colored straps.
