Objectives of Webinar • Toexplore the Transition Planning Asia website hosted by Perkins School for the Blind • To become familiar with the range of content available on the site • To learn about interactive features of the site and how users can add content • To identify ways in which the website can be of assistance to individuals working in the field of blindness in the Asia region

  4. Project Background • Sponsored by Perkins International in collaboration with Project Partners in Asia Region • Grew out of strategic planning meeting in 2009

Purpose of Website • Interactive hub for teachers, families, and other caregivers • Place to share ideas and questions about youth who are blind or visually impaired with additional disabilities as they make the transition to adult life • Resource with basic information, tools, and ideas, as well as places to share case studies, functional activities, and questions. • Site to post materials, including photos and/or video, to help to tell the stories.

Translating the Website • Google Translate has 14 Asian languages built in • Keywords and concepts have customized translations for some of the languages to convey the intended meaning as accurately as possible • Users who would like to change the translations on other pages can do so • Materials can be posted in any language If you would like to contribute to a custom glossary, contact us at: transitionasia@perkins.org
