  1. Comparison of Lightweight Hyundai Generators and why Inverter Generators are just better If you’re in the market for a new, small Hyundai Generator but don’t know exactly which one will best suit your needs, look no further. Here, we will guide you through the best that Hyundai Generators Australia have to offer in their inverter range. Hyundai are known for their inverter generator and their increased number of available options means there are more cases than ever where an inverter generator really is the best choice. Whether you need a generator for keeping your devices alive on a camping trip, or a generator to keep your power tools running on your worksite, there are inverter generators to meet your needs. The only situation where an inverter generator is not worth using (and, accordingly, there are no models of this type available) is when you need literally hundreds of kVAs on site. Hyundai Diesel Generators are best where there is a constant and high demand for power, like industrial worksites, where a fixed, diesel generator is the sensible, cost effective choice. Inverter

  2. generators are designed to be as compact as possible, which isn’t really a top priority when the generator needs to be delivering hundreds, if not thousands, of kVAs. In general, there are three main groups of generators: inverter generators, open-frame (uncovered) generators, and closed-frame (covered) generators. We have made a distinction between inverter generators and covered generators (even though inverter generators really are a type of covered generator) because there are some key differences that are quite important to understand. Inverter generators supply power more consistently, making them more suited to devices that are sensitive to sudden changes in power supply, like electronics and computers. They also are quieter and more fuel efficient, which is good because the savings in fuel expenditure will balance out the higher upfront cost of inverter generators. They are also smaller than ‘standard’ generators, given the same power output, so they do really pack a punch. This means they are great for camping, or other cases where having an easily-portable generator that is super fuel efficient and safe for electronics is a real asset. However, there are some obvious facts that mean inverter generators don’t meet your needs. Inverter generators don’t come in large: their drawcard is fitting a lot in a small space. Plus, having an inverter in with the generator does mean there’s something else that can break. And most of the models I’ve seen are covered, which can make maintenance harder, but I’d always recommend finding a professional to undertake any repairs or changes anyway. Notwithstanding all that, once you’ve seen the variety of models on offer, all those concerns will melt away. The HY2000Si – 2kVA and only 21kg First cab off the rank is the Hyundai HY2000Si Petrol Inverter Generator 2kVA. Weighing in at only 21kg (empty of fuel), it’s like it was designed for grey nomads to fit comfortably in the car boot. This tiny thing is half a metre high, half a metre long, and only 30cm wide and can run for a full work day of 8 hours (depending on the workload – it could even be longer, thanks to ECO Mode). The 3.8 litre fuel tank is suitable and the quiet thrumming of 58dB is barely much louder than a fridge (around 55dB). It also comes with all important safety features, including digital overload protection and low oil level shutdown. Running an engine without oil can cause serious harm, so it’s just another bit of peace of mind knowing the machine has got you covered and you don’t have to obsessively check the oil dipstick every time the generator runs. The only downside to this little beauty is it doesn’t have an electric start, just recoil start. So you’ll have to pull on that starter cord to get things humming along. In my experience, generators with recoil starts are a lot easier to get going than most other motorised tools you would be used to seeing them on (i.e. lawnmowers, trimmers, etc).

  3. The HY3200Sei – 4kVA and 35kg Even though the HY3200Sei has double the previous generator’s power output, the weight certainly has not. And, unlike the last model, this one has wheels and a handle, ensuring the added kilos don’t sacrifice portability. This model is more cuboid than the last, with dimensions of 56x40x45cm (length, width, height) and a higher fuel capacity at 7.8 litres. Hyundai also suggests that their new inverter board in this model is ideal for the high inductive loads that power tools can require, thanks to their high start-up currents. And the electric start (including remote start) is a pleasant convenience. Otherwise, it boasts the same great features as the last model (including low noise level, and ECO Mode). The HY4000Sei – 5kVA and 55kg Now we’re getting into some bigger ones, with the HY4000Sei coming in at 55kg. This generator is 60x45x50cm (length, width, height) and can pack in 9 litres of fuel. Other than this increased fuel capacity, a higher power output and the option to convert to a gas generator with a kit, it’s the spitting image of the last generator, the HY3200Sei. The HY6500Sei – 8.1kVA and 89kg This inverter generator really is the bees knees and the cats pyjamas all in one. It’s a bit noisier than the others, at 65dB (in the range of conversation volume) and it weighs a decent amount, but it boasts some great features. With a capacity of 18.5 litres of fuel and not only electric and remote start but also auto start, this generator can detect when, for instance, a battery is running low and start itself up, powering up the battery until it’s charged. Other than the size differences, with this model being 90x60x78cm (length, width, height), it includes the other great features of all the less hefty models already detailed. The Wrap Up Inverter generators are getting more and more impressive with every iteration. This brief showcase of Hyundai’s best models is an insight into how much power can be packed into a generator these days, and quiet, efficient power at that. I hope you find the right generator for you.
