  2. You have a test today! • Follow the instructions on the handout in front of you! • Answer each question HONESTLY! I can’t tell you what type of person you are if you LIE!

  3. Results • Being the stats nerd that I am, I will calculate all your results and put them on your sheets and return them to you tomorrow! • I will also tally the overall class results and put it into a wonderful graph for your viewing pleasure

  4. Tomorrow... • We’ll learn what each personality type means and what it entails. • But for the rest of the class...

  5. Agenda • Take personality test (Check!) • Learn about a the three groups of personality disorders • Begin Personality matching disorders assignment

  6. Personality Disorders • Axis 2 of the DSM • experiences and behaviors that differ from societal norms and expectations • difficulties in cognition, expressing emotion and control of impulses.

  7. Odd or Eccentric Disorders (Type 1) • Three types of personality disorders, paranoid, schizoid, and schizotypal • Paranoid – irrational suspicions and mistrust of others

  8. Dramatic, Emotional or Erratic (Type 2) • Four types: Antisocial (sociopath or psychopath), borderline, histrionic and narcissistic • Narcissistic – Overly confident of their abilities; believe they are special.

  9. Anxious or Fearful (Type 3) • Main disorder of focus – Compulsive personality disorder • Excessively neat and organized • Has a set of rules that are rigidly followed • Trouble with showing affection

  10. The leftovers... • Passive-Aggressive and depressive personality disorders • Passive-Aggressive – pattern of negative attitudes that are expressed in subtle ways
