  1. Center for Disease Control and Prevention By Nate Coy, Kip DeShields,and Jacob Robb

  2. Location • The main location is in Atlanta, Georgia. • There are many locations across the United States. (See Figure1 below)

  3. Sources of Funding • Federal Tax dollars • Gives out money through grants to local health departments, and states • The funding for the CDC may be put on hold due to the budget cuts. • With the budget cuts the CDC may loose 300 million dollars. • Which go to help us humans fight off new diseases.

  4. Research Projects Currently Underway • Heart disease is the leading cause of death and a major cause of disability in the United States. • Over 600 thousand Americans have lost their lives to heart disease. • February has been designated to American heart disease. • The CDC is investigating in fungal meningitis. Patients have gotten this infection from being injected with contaminated needles.

  5.   6. Methods for Distributing Treatments • The CDC over sees the locations to give out treatments. • For vaccines the CDC approves doctors offices and pharmacies. • Treatments for more serious diseases, the CDC recommends a certified hospital that has been trained to give that certain treatment.
