Public Health Structures (II) • State Sanitary Inspection = provide the control of compliance with public health regulations • State Sanitary Inspectionis organized as follows: • Pharmaceutics Inspection • Medical devices Inspection • Inspection for Health Services Quality Control • Public Health Inspection

  10. Training in Public Health (I) • The personnel employed in Public Health structures is divided in: • Public Employees (at the level of MOPH and DPHA) • Contractual civil servants of different specialties: • Physicians • Nurses • Biologists • Engineers • Statisticians etc.

Training in Public Health (II) • For Public Employees (at the level of MOPH and DPHA), there are not clear requirements of training in Public Health, but specific conditions for the career of Public Employee (PE) • Continuous Training is requested for Public Employees, based on National Institute for Administration (INA) requirements • National School for Public Health and Health Services Management role in training of PE

Training in Public Health (III) • For Physicians there are three main specialties covering the area: • Public Health and Management • Epidemiology • Hygiene • All 3 require a 4 years training residency program • The training for residency programs is done at the level of Universities of Medicine or the public health structures from the field

  13. Training in Public Health (IV) • There are several Master-type courses in the field of Health (Public Health) Management (Administration), • Post-graduate training (“Atestat”) is done in Health Services Management by NSPHHSM and Universities of Medicine • Short courses on various public health aspects are delivered by different providers

  14. Challenges for the Future • Getting more technical in public health when occupying civil servant jobs; • Enhancing training in Public Health for Physicians (one or several specialties) and other professionals; • Promoting more Evidence-based Public Health decisions • Driving public health expertise closer to communities
