  2. What is diabetes? Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when your pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or when your body does not use the insulin it produces correctly. When you have diabetes, the food you eat is converted into energy and it is stored in your body in the form of blood glucose. Good blood glucose control is essential to keep your body healthy.

  3. What are the different types of diabetes? The three types of diabetes are – • Type 1 diabetes • Type 2 diabetes • Prediabetes • Gestational Diabetes

  4. TYPE 1 DIAbetes Type 1 diabetes is  a chronic autoimmune disease in which the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas are attacked and destroyed by the body's own immune system, resulting in elevated blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetes, also called juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, usually begins during childhood or adolescence and is often diagnosed during early adulthood. If not managed, it can lead to a number of complications.

  5. Type 2 diabetes Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which the body does not produce enough insulin or does not respond to it properly. Insulin is a hormone that helps the body convert sugar, starches and other food into energy. When the body doesn’t use insulin properly, too much sugar builds up in the blood, resulting in type 2 diabetes and other health problems. When you have type 2 diabetes, you need to control your blood sugar by balancing your diet, physical activity, and medication.

  6. prediabetes Prediabetes is when a person's blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes ( also known as adult-onset diabetes ). Prediabetes may be a condition that lasts for a few years before turning into type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes can be difficult to recognize, as many of the same things that cause type 2 diabetes are also causes of prediabetes. These include excess weight, poor diet, lack of exercise, and family history. Prediabetes is not a disease in itself and can be easily treated. Prediabetes is not a disease in itself and can be easily treated. Prediabetes is a risk factor for type 2 diabete

  7. Gestational diabetes Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition that starts during pregnancy and normally disappears after delivery. Gestational diabetes occurs only during pregnancy. It is seen more often with increasing maternal age, in women who are overweight, and in women with a family history of diabetes. Gestational diabetes can cause problems during pregnancy including low blood sugar, which can cause symptoms such as fatigue, excessive thirst, hunger, irritability, and blurry vision. Gestational diabetes can also be associated with large babies and high blood pressure in the mother. During pregnancy, gestational diabetes is generally mild and does not raise the long-term risk for mother or child of developing diabetes. However, women with gestational diabetes have a higher risk for certain complications of pregnancy. Women with gestational diabetes also have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.

  8. What Causes diabetes? Type 1 Diabetes Well, Type 1 diabetes is caused by the pancreas not making any insulin. This is an autoimmune condition and there is no known cure. Type 2 is caused by the body not responding properly to insulin. Type 2 Diabetes Type 2 diabetes, most of them preventable. Obesity is a common cause of Type 2 diabetes. A lack of exercise and a poor diet are often involved. If you have diabetes, you need to have a good diet and exercise regularly.

  9. What are symptoms of diabetes? • Blurred vision • Frequent infections • Frequent urination • Thinning of hair • Slow-healing sores • Excessive hunger • Frequent thirst • Thinning of bones • Tiredness
