  1. How Important Is Optical Image Stabilization for A Camera

  2. Ever had a chance to take a terrific photograph and then discover it’s blurred? This generally happens in low light conditions or the unavailability of a tripod stand. Using a longer lens or maybe indoor shoots with bad lighting can hamper the quality of the images. Sure there is always a second chance and one can try taking the photo again, but if the blur was due to the camera shake and there is absence of a tripod, it’s time to switch to an optical image stabilizer camera.

  3. OIS camera will help in getting sharp images when shooting with hand. It works the best with a telephoto lenses, where even the tiniest movement can make substantial amount of blur.

  4. Where an optical image stabilizer camera works great for many times. It is just not suitable when used with a tripod. Since OIS is specifically designed for times when camera shake is present, leaving OIS on when a camera is stable can decrease the quality of shots. It is the most effective form of stabilization and takes place in the lens using a tiny gyroscope to detect small hand movements. What’s unique with OIS is that the image is stabilized before it reaches the sensor.

  5. The other two forms of stabilization – Digital and Sensor-shift. Where Digital stabilization uses software to reduce the impact of camera shake. Sensor-shift stabilization are used in most of the DSLM cameras and works better than the former. Still OIS leads the race and deliverables the best results. Panasonic cameras are the 1st of its kind to introduce two optical image stabilizer modes. Mode 1 tracks the panasonic cameras movement. Whereas, Mode 2 only compensates for camera movement when the shutter button is pressed! OIS Mode 1 will continually compensate for camera movement, even when framing up the subject. It is useful when you have shaky hands. OIS Mode 2 keeps the OIS lens in the centre when framing the subject. When the shutter button is pressed the OIS calculates the movement and compensates. It is still more effect mode for image stabilization than OIS Mode 1.

  6. Panasonic cameras have revolutionized the concept of optical image stabilization with 5-axis Dual I.S. This is equivalent to 5 doublings of exposure duration, where one can use a 5-stop slower shutter speed. The Lumix GH5 eliminates shake in both body and lens from wide to tele-lenses and works for both photo and video recording, including 4K.

  7. The highly-précised gyrosensor and the updated algorithm makes it possible to achieve 5-stop slower speed in any lighting. The DSLM camera provides the sharp blur-free results even when following a fast moving subject with one hand. The main USP of thisDSLM camera is that it corrects shake for all lenses, including the classic lenses not equipped with OIS.
