  1. ADVENTURE – Threy Cameron

  2. What I think adventure is When I think of adventure what springs to my mind is quests, long journeys, discovery of new and exciting places or things.  I think adventure is somewhere different , a new land not discovered yet or something you have not tried yourself that puts you out of your comfort zone. An adventure I can relate to is when we were in Whangarei and went camping at the back of the farm with dad.  It was the highest mountain around and you could see for miles.  We made camp , set a fire which came in handy as there were wild boars and pigs around !!!  That's why we left the fire going all night ... we had not done anything like that before so it was exciting and was new experience. To prepare for adventures , well you can prepare for the expected adventures BUT for the un expected adventures would it be an adventure if you prepared , I am not sure? I have heard lots of stories of people conquering Mt Everest like (Sir Edmond Hillary) , Sir Peter Blake he was an adventurous man on the sea .... Bear Grylls - surviving in remote and dangerous areas of the planet.

  3. My question My question is:    Why do some people go on adventures and others do not attempt them? Some people like to try adventures where as others like to stay within their comfort zone.  Does it make a difference if your mum and dad were adventurous when you were growing up?  This I think would have an impact on your life and how you want to live it.  We learn lots from our parents so if we see them just sitting around not trying or attempting anything new we more than likely would be the same.  Where if our parents try something new and get excited surely we would be more like that. Some people like to explore and extend themselves in new and exciting ways. Some people do not like to change their surroundings , they like to stay within the boundaries of what they are comfortable with.

  4. My adventurous person is Kupe There are many stories of Kupe the famous Maori explorer it was said in some legends that Kupe was the one who first discovered Aotearoa. He is in many stories for example Kupe and the giant Wheke. Kupe was a chief and well respected leader of his tribe he lived in Hawaiki. He was also a great fisherman and none dare opposed him except one Muturangi. One day as the fisherman of Kupe’s tribe dropped their lines in one of their favourite fishing spots they didn’t

  5. get the expected pull on their lines, instead every time they pulled up their lines all their bait was gone and not one fisherman caught any fish. They blamed the problem on Muturangi who the tribe had banished to the other side of the island years ago. Kupe knew that Muturangi had a pet octopus which had huge tentacles longer than any waka and a head the size of a whare (house). Kupe went to see Muturangi on the other side of the island about his problem Muturangi simply laughed he explained that he could not control his pet what it did or what it ate. Kupe swore that he would kill Muturangi’s pet if it was the last thing he did. As Kupe set out in search of the beast with his men he chanted a spell that would not let the beast dive into the depths and hide when it surfaced.

  6. After many days searching Kupe finally saw a huge black shadow under the water that signalled the presence of a giant monster. When it finally surfaced the beast could not dive to safety it had to flee across the water with Kupe and his men following it close behind. A great chase followed that encounter, after many days the Octopus began to tire and Kupe struck the killing blow splitting the beast in two. Its eyes were placed on rocks nearby and are known today as Nga Whatu.

  7. I think Kupe is an adventurer because he pursued the octopus fearlessly across many seas and islands in New Zealand that he had never been to before. Without fear but with loads of courage.

  8. What is adventure What is an  adventure? Adventure is exploration, it's getting out of your comfort zone.  Some people describe it as getting the spark back in your system.  Adventure makes you feel alive. What types of adventures can you identify? Exploration, extreme sports, hiking, tree adventures, water adventures, mountaineering. How can you prepare for adventures? You can prepare by being physically fit, mentally fit especially for those extreme adventures like mountaineering, rock climbing.  Research the place or country you are going to go to and also the adventure you choose to do. What stories have you heard or read about? THE TOMORROW SERIES , SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON, BEAR GRYLLS, BEAST QUEST.

  9. Supporting question WHAT:  Some people like to step out of their comfort zone others like to stay within the boundaries of what they are comfortable with.  For example Bear Grylls likes to go on adventures whenever he can.  Alice Rover of Nims Island liked to stay inside all day everyday. WHERE:  Different people like to go to different places to experience new and wonderful things.  Non adventurous people like to stay where they are happy with what they are doing and do not see the need to try new things. WHY:  Some people like to have a thrill once in awhile, some people say they get the spark back in their life and feel younger again. HOW:  Adventure can come in all shapes and sizes like skydiving or any extreme sport.  Adventure can also be exploration or hiking, for someone that is not used to adventure it could be as simple as going on a hike into the hills.  How you do it does not matter as long as you give it a go.

  10. Why do some people go on adventures and others do not attempt them. The information that was most helpful was the information that came from myself and my family. Most of the answers are from my own opinions and the opinions of others.   The most important part is the who, what, when, where, why, how, and which also known as the seven servants. They helped break the information up into the most important parts so this made my question easier to answer.   The information that I gathered from my family proved very useful as they have more life experiences than me.  But in the end I used my own knowledge and then made an informed decision.

  12. I got this information from my family Michelle Cameron, John Cameron and Nadine Edmonds and also from the web sites listed above, on Thursday the 10th of November at 7:45 am 2011. This information is what I personally think of adventure this also is from past experiences.
