  1. Travel Writing • Travel writing is writing about a place that you have visited • It’s about relaying your travel experiences to others • And, it’s writing about things in your own town or city that are exotic to everyone else---a local farmer's market, historic site, restaurant, museum.

  2. Children’s Travel Writing As you can see from the example, travel writing can read like a diary or even a story. BUT, remember, you must discuss the attractions and features within the place you visited. It was a hot, summer day and my family and I were going on holiday to London and to York, England. We were going to stay at the beautiful York Hotel. While we were on the plane, I asked my mother if I could look at my passport. “I don’t want you to lose it,” my mother said. “Puh—–leeeeeeze,” I begged. “Fine, but for only a second,” she replied. Just as my mother handed me the passport, I noticed my favourite show was about to start on the television. I put my passport down for only a second. We hit some turbulence and next thing I knew my passport was flying all over the airplane. My mother gave me “that look,” so I chased my passport around the plane. After crawling under several seats, and stepping over one very large foot, I caught it.

  3. Opening Lines… • South Africa will stay in my memory as a kaleidoscope of impressions including the cold blue ocean, funny penguins, lush vineyards, misty Table Mountain, friendly people. • As the sun rises over Tiger Hill in Darjeeling, India, the pushing and jostling for position stops as we all stare in wonder at the magnificent picture unfolding in front of us
