Aims of the funding: To support workshops to support multi-disciplinary applied research in areas of interest to the Society Aimed at researchers and health professionals who want to bring people together, for example; • To develop a grant proposal • To develop research networks • To disseminate findings to policy makers & move ideas forward (impact) • To bring together new evidence and consider implications for practice • As part of a pump priming exercise

  3. The SRIP development grant does not fund new research (primary or secondary)

  4. Funding • The Society will provide up to £1500 to cover travel and accommodation for participants and other small incidental costs. • Costs will be reimbursed through a University or other appropriate organisation. • The organisers of funded workshops will be required to supply accounts of the monies spent and a brief factual report of the workshop.

  5. Applications • Applications can be made at any time by completing the application form. • The organisers (and preferably) participants of the workshop must include some members of SRIP.

  6. Although all applications will be considered on their merits, the following are most likely to be successful: • Workshops dealing with topics that are important both academically and clinically • Workshops which involve a reasonable number of speakers and other participants. • Workshops whose participants come from a number of different Universities, NHS Trusts or other organisations with some regional geographical spread. • Workshops which are multidisciplinary and involve clinical or other professional practitioners as well as academic participants.

  7. Applications should indicate: • The topic, dates and location of the workshop. • Its organisers and proposed participants and their professional and institutional affiliations. Please indicate which organisers/participants are members of SRIP. • Costings to a maximum of £1500 to be met by the Society. • The amount and source of any other funding. If an application is pending, the date when the result will be known.

  10. A good idea meeting the requirements for Society • A group of individuals willing / able to contribute (admin, organisation, speaking etc) • A venue accessible to participants • A press release: impact • A form of output: benefits & impact

  11. ‘Tips’ • Apply for funding from other sources and pool the resources (we received another £2000, to match the money from SRIP). • Aim for something manageable but spectacular!
