    2. Briefing Objective - To define the Objective Force Warrior Advanced Technology Demonstration program and to address Human Factors issues related to Netted Communications and Collaborative Situation Awareness Program Objective

    6. Objective Force Warrior: A Partnership Effort Premised on Technology Development & Integration

    7. Holistic Approach to Design DOTLMP - This brings us out of the traditional HF space replete with traditional measures (Biomechanics, workload, Range of motion, accessibility and compatibility issues) and provides a platform for expanding the scope of HF into areas related to DOTLMPF (COP, collaborative cognition, group SA, MOS, organization) The Small Unit as the focus of HFE - We wont forget the individual soldier, however the power of the force of the future UoA resides in the power of the unit not the individual Capabilities providing combat overmatch are unit capabilities not individual capabilities as in the past.

    8. The OFW program takes a holistic approach to development that allows a broader platform from which to apply effective HFE to design. The OFW program takes a holistic approach to development that allows a broader platform from which to apply effective HFE to design.

    11. Situation Awareness One of the key technologies of the OFW System-of-Systems is Collaborative Situation Awareness SA is necessary for the individual and CSA is critical for the unit Investigate the unit dynamic more than ever beforeunit SA, unit morale; COP, CROP, internal and external influences

    12. Questions Needing Answers The individual and small unit is already part of the larger network through limited communication capabilities. The difference is that now they are connected in a way that makes all of the elements of that network accessible by them. Is this good? Is this what the individual and small unit want? Is this what they should have? How will we know? Is task decomposition the best way to answer these questions? Is it the only way?

    13. Information Exchange Requirements Because we are pushing Information Exchange Requirements to the lowest levels and positing that with capabilities provided by OFW a squad can cover the battlefield in the same way that a platoon now does, we must now design for the individual as though he/she were a unit leader

    14. Information Exchange Requirements More information will be available to the individual - - How do we determine what information should be provided to the individual? - We must configure information push/pull strategies to allow that information to aid the individual - Should we provide the same information that we provide to one individual to all individuals within the unit? - How do we enable collaborative situation awareness We need to implement the strategies we use to training our unit leaders for our unit members - - We must investigate what elements of unit leaders training we should apply to individuals in a non-leadership position. This may make us re-think our definition of a leader...to broaden it to accommodate the OF O&O concept.
