  2. Capitolo 15 15.II Superlativi 1. Il lago d’Iseo e` il piu` inquinato d’Italia. 2. Il camoscio e` l’animale piu` protetto dell’Abruzzo. 3. Il sole puo` dare l’energia piu` pulita del pianeta. 4. Salvaguardare l’ambiente e` il problema meno importante delle nazioni povere.

  3. 15.II Superlativi (cont.) Relative superlative (most / least, -est): definite article (+ noun) + piu` / meno + adjective (+ di + noun). 1. Qual e` la pianta piu` profumata? 2. Cepagatti e` uno dei paesi meno conosciuti dell’Abruzzo.

  4. 15.II Superlativi (cont.) If the adjective precedes the noun the superlative is placed BEFORE the noun; if the adjective follows the noun, the superlative is placed AFTER the noun. The superlative will always precede the adjective.

  5. 15.II Superlativi (cont.) • L’orso e` l’animale piu` feroce. • L’acqua e il petrolio sono le risorse naturali piu` importanti del mondo. • Il piu` alto della classe e` Italo. 4. La piu` bella del pianeta sei tu. NB: English uses the preposition IN; Italian uses DI.

  6. 15.II Superlativi (cont.) Absolute superlative (very, extremely, quite): use adverbs such as molto, assai, estremamente, + adjective. Also: drop final vowel of adjective and add –issimo/a/i/e.
